Does the prospect of designing the arch enemies and obstacles in James Bond’s way seem like a task you could see yourself solve with thought-through AI, enticing encounters and challenging gameplay, all whilst keeping the player engaged and at the edge of the seat? Then read on!
IO Interactive is currently looking for an impactful Senior AI Designer to join us on Project 007, a brand-new James Bond video game to be developed and published by IOI. Featuring a wholly original Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world's favourite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story.
As a Senior AI Designer at IOI, you will work with some of the best designers in the industry, having a lot of autonomy and creative control over every aspect of the AI. At the same time, you will have the support of an award-winning team and studio.
Who you are:- Experienced designer of 5+ years working with action games, more specifically encounters, AI and combat
- You have driven core game features related to AI from concept to final quality and release
- In-depth understanding of rational game design principles and how AI influences the game loop
- You are tech-savvy and can independently understand and solve complex technical challenges related to implementation of your features
- Feedback-prone and collaborative in nature; both when giving and receiving feedback
- You have driven your designs and feature from start to finish with a great result
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration is second nature to you, and you know how to best bring the best to your design by inviting collaborators from other disciplines to the conversation
- You are used to an iterative process with lots of ideas and input
- You know what makes a fun and engaging combat experience and how to make it fit within the tonality of an IP such as James Bond
- You’ve solved complex design problems successfully before and thrive in the problem-solving process
What you will do:- Own the design and prototyping process of AI features in collaboration with the lead designer and game director from start to implementation over polish
- Suggesting new archetypes and boss fights that fit the vision and style of a James Bond game. All the way from creative and technical design prototypes to enemy behaviours and abilities
- Own the feature development for AI game design, combat and non-combat NPC’s in the game
- Ensure an enjoyable moment-to-moment gameplay experience for our players
- Closely collaborate with our programmers, artists, animators, and sound designers to finalize the experience to a high-quality standard
- Share and communicate the foundation of the designs to other disciplines such as level design and environment art
- Create and maintain design documentation
