Senior 3D Artist

The Senior 3D Artist is responsible for creating assets, constructing worlds, and developing creative lighting solutions for gameplay and cinematics. Working under the Lead Artist, you will collaborate closely with the wider development teams – Concept, Design, and Engineering – to produce engaging and coherent environments. This particular role also aids in Outsourcing duties including feedback and reviews.
Responsibilities:
- Model and texture beautiful props and environments that support gameplay and drive narratives
- Translate concept art and design gray box into fully realized levels
- Create a wide variety of assets ranging from organics to hard-surface props and architecture – including hero assets
- Deliver assets optimized for UE4, imported with LODs, texture atlases, channel packing, and efficient UE4 materials
- Develop lighting for gameplay environments (exteriors and interiors), conversations and cut scenes
- Set up and manipulate post-process systems including color grading, exposure, tone-mapping
- Set up and manipulate atmospherics in the scene including volumetric lights, fog, DoF, and Bloom
- Help tune materials to fit within PBR guidelines
- Create and publish workflow and process documentation
- Provide written and verbal feedback to artists that are internal and external
Requirements:
- 3+ year of experience in the game industry, including two shipped titles
- Good understanding of composition, color, lighting, and visual storytelling
- Ability to create interesting, detailed and visually appealing environments
- Experience in game development crafting playable environments
- Experience working in 3D software packages including Maya or 3DS Max, and ZBrush
- Experience with PBR workflows and texture/material authoring packages (Substance Designer/Painter, Photoshop, etc.)
- Experience working with UE4 or equivalent game engines
- Ability to come up with creative, attractive, and performant lighting solutions
- A solid understanding of lighting characters and scenes for cinematics
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Experience managing and mentoring internal and external artists
- Excellent time management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work on a team
- A real passion for games
Pluses:
- Experience creating textures with Substance Designer
- Previous FPS military shooter experience
- Experience working with outsourcing pipelines and teams
