Savage Game Studios was formed in 2020 by industry veterans from studios such as Rockstar, Insomniac, Supercell, Wargaming and Rovio. In 2022 we joined PlayStation, making Savage the founding studio of the PlayStation Studios Mobile Division.

The Role:

We are currently seeking a Senior 3D Environment Artist to join our team.

You will be responsible for creating environments and setting the visual direction for the levels by setting up lighting and placing assets. As a young studio, your work will have a significant impact on the final performance and quality of all our projects. Working closely with other departments your work will help to set our games apart to stand out in the mobile action games market.

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and expand on the assets for the game’s core environments. Work closely with and support Level Design to maintain a flexible iterative approach
  • Take ownership of the look of the environments by creating environment 3D assets from versatile modular sets to unique hero assets.
  • Work closely with the level artist and level designer in order to provide the best environment assets possible for their needs
  • Collaborate with different disciplines and Leads to plan and prioritize workloads and workflow improvements
  • Analyze and maintain performance and visual fidelity of the environments with the technical department
  • Experiment and research alongside Tech and Art direction with an understanding of the product enabling better world-building and visual choices
  • Give feedback, support team morale, and facilitate free and open creative communication
  • Work with outsourcing partners by providing feedback and project-specific 3D asset creation guidelines

Required Skills

  • Experience in games production as an environment artist, a 3D artist or equivalent (e.g. Senior Artist)
  • Expert understanding of shape, composition and colour
  • Good technical understanding of game engines and strong awareness of the performance and optimization
  • Expert proficiency in 3D and 2D content creation tools of your choice
  • Strong understanding of creating modular environment asset sets
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excited to work within a stylised art style
  • Portfolio examples of beautiful environment assets you have made that show your understanding of form, composition and colour

Desirable Skills

  • Unreal Engine experience
  • Experience in mobile game development
  • Traditional art skills and passion for art in general
  • An interest in architecture and nature as a visual inspiration
