SMITE - Senior UI Artist

Hi-Rez Studios is looking for a Senior UI Artist to work with our UI/UX team to help create quality content and push the boundaries of what we can achieve on SMITE. The Senior UI Artist would be responsible for visual aesthetics and design in regards to player interactions. The artist would strive to maintain a balance between adhering to the established look and feel of the current game while striving to push the boundaries of what we can do through our interfaces and UI assets. In this role, the artist will work with multiple departments to create, design, and implement UI assets into the game while respecting performance requirements. We are looking for someone who has strong illustration skills and at the same time possesses a somewhat technical mind. Creating high-quality art is important, but equally important is being open to learn and work with the technical aspects of implementation in order to create assets that are game-ready more effectively. Time will be balanced between creating art and doing set up in our tools system and importing game-ready assets ready for our programmers to use. The ideal candidate wants to take ownership in this role and of our UI art helping design and shape the interactive visual elements of the game that our players interface with. We do not want just another cog in the machine.

What our UI Artists Do:
- Being a team player, you will collaborate with Art Directors, UX Designers, Game Designers, Producers and Programmers
- Using your artistic talents, you will help create and design art components to be used in SMITE's UI (Framing, Events, Icons, Achievements, Badges, etc.)
- Your opinions are valued and necessary in order to connect with our players. We want you to take ownership of UI art and work closely with the Art Director, Game Designers, and UX Designers to create compelling content for new and upcoming characters in SMITE.
- You will contribute to UI related processes and best practices when working with other departments to create more effective workflows with testing and getting assets in-game.
- Conveying information to our players is of paramount importance. You will work closely with Game Designers to create UI content that bridges the gap between understanding game functionality and appealing aesthetics.
Who we are looking for:
- Has great passion and creativity for interface design, with strong art skills regarding iconography and 2D graphics, and a good understanding of interface functionality.
- Strong conceptual and traditional art skills. (Can’t stress this one enough).Excellent portfolio showing all phases of game asset production from roughs through finished assets.
- At least 5+ industry experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and other 2D illustration programs.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating solid UI iconography and illustrative ability.
- Ability to conceptualize and paint a wide variety of icons and UI elements to support the game.
- Proactive work ethic and be a capable problem solver who is not afraid of big challenges.
- An entrepreneurial attitude and desire to take ownership of UI in order to push our boundaries and make the best content possible.
