Robotics Integration Engineer

The opportunity

We are Unity’s Accelerate Solutions Robotics lab based in Port Coquitlam! Our lab is a growing R&D center passionate about applying Unity technologies to address client business problems. We work on a diverse range of business verticals including games, automotive, retail, manufacturing and entertainment.

We are seeking a dedicated Engineer with a breadth of robotics experience to aid us in developing and applying robotics solutions into a variety of industries. This is a hands-on position, and provides significant autonomy in sourcing, building, and coding solutions. Our lab space includes a 25,000 sq ft. warehouse, and we operate Boston Dynamics (Spot), Universal Robotics and Clearpath robots.

You will work directly with clients and embed in multidisciplinary teams solving innovative problems applying new technologies. Unity engages clients globally, and you may be asked to travel internationally.

What you’ll be doing

• Embed on project based teams, crafting and developing solutions for clients in a different industries
• Craft and build mechanical components, integrate sensors, develop embedded code, and integrate solutions with Unity
• Provide robotics domain leadership when working with teams and developing the ‘Art of the Possible’ physical demonstrations that tackle real-world problems built on Unity Robotics technologies
• Support and maintain our robotics fleet at our lab in Port Coquitlam
• Assist other groups within Unity looking to explore use of robotics within their domains

What we’re looking for

• A generalist with experience in delivering software, electrical, and mechanical production systems
• Robotic development experience including ROS, sensor technology development, motors and power systems
• Mechanical experience including proficiency with Fusion360, 3D printing, design for manufacturing including CNC fabrication
• Electrical experience including PCB design, power systems, safety system design, PLC integration and programming
• Proven technical leadership able to solve problems and drive development with minimal direction
