Blizzard’s Cinematics Department has a new opening for a Rigging and Simulation Supervisor. In this role, you will own the day-to-day operations of this team for all cinematic projects. Working with the current leads and department producer, you will help lead Blizzard Cinematics into the future of this industry. This is a full-time staff position.
Stuff We Will Trust You With:
- Assist in the creation of and ensure all real-time Cinematic assets, of our various IPs and artistic styles, deliver on time while maintaining and establishing new pipeline standards and visual quality bar.
- Establish and maintain rig/sim team vision, direction, and short term/long term goals.
- Are you a collaborator that can work with various production management teams and Supervisors for asset bidding, pipeline and technology improvements, while seeing to our overall casting and staffing needs?
- Critique and deliver feedback for artist’s work by providing notes, quality checks, simulation reviews, etc. to meet and elevate artistic standards.
- Concisely and directly communicate notes to and from our teams to ensure the projects’ vision is being realized on time and within budget and scope.
- Point person for the team regarding problem-solving of artistic, technical or pipeline related hurdles.
- Frequently hold 1:1s with your Direct Reports to mentor and develop their growth to better reach their unique personal and professional goals, and those of the Team and Studio.
- Cultivate a safe and expansive environment that provides an encouraging environment for everyone on the team to succeed and grow.
Stuff You Are Familiar With:
- We are looking for someone with the passion and dedication to elevate our artistic quality bar and to stay current on industry trends, techniques, and standards regarding real-time asset creation.
- 8+ years professional experience crafting assets for AAA titles for pre-render/game pipelines (includes character rigging and simulation for cloth and hair, shot cleanup, etc.)
- Passionate about team building, mentoring and career development as well as asset creation workflow/pipeline and efficiency standardizations.
- Experience working within a creative leadership team across multiple IPs (includes production, directors, art directors, production designers, tech, and senior management).
- Knowledge of, and experience with current pre-render and real-time pipelines – supervises rig creation that support animation, simulation, mocap and crowds as well as new trends regarding AAA-asset creation standards.
- Detailed understanding of modern character simulation and simulation techniques including cloth, hair, muscles, feathers, etc... Leads character simulation tasks by coordinating with various department leaderships to ensure quality results within project schedule and resource requirements.
- Outstanding communication, multi-tasking and time-management skills
- Able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and initiative, autonomy, and self-sufficiency.
- Familiarity with the Blizzard IP’s and associated lore.
Soft Skills:
- Capacity to keep up with the fast pace of a Cinematics production environment.
- Talent for filtering, evaluating, and delivering constructive feedback on a professional level.
- Communicate priorities to leads/supervisor/producers and the team for developing clear plans to achieve collective goals and production schedules, highlighting any concerns.
Software Experience Preferred:
- Maya, Houdini, current AAA Real-Time Game Engine (Unreal/Unity equivalent), Marvelous Designer, Python
