Rigging Artist - Lead (Maya)

We are looking for a talented Lead Rigging Artist to join the team on an exciting new Feature Animated Film!
Responsibilities:
- Using in-house tools and pipeline, create/design complex characters, creatures, vehicles and props in Maya
- Examines and trouble shoots animation controls in a timely manner.
- Takes direction and elicits feedback from leadership team and accelerates issues as needed
- Support/build tools, plugins, rig-modules and workflow for the Rigging department.
- Collaborate with Modelling Artists to develop a model that meets the cfx technical and rigging requirements.
- Ensure that the rigs will permit the characters to have the aesthetics and the complete range of motion necessary for the project by contributing to the character design process.
- Excellent knowledge of body and facial deformations.
- Comprehension of hair, cloth, and rigid body simulations.
- Offer technical assistance for the animation team.
- Encourages, provides mentorship and support to the team to continually aim for excellence
- Partner with CG Supervisor to focus on tasks and notify key individuals of improvement, changes, or any other important issues.
- Builds life-like skeletal rigs for a number of humanoids and intricate creatures
- Creates tools with the Maya API and MEL scripts to enable animators to create realistic animation
- Collaborate with Senior TD’s in the studio to create and incorporate tools into a vigorous pipeline
