Summary:
Curriculum Specialists work closely with a team of talented educators, game designers, artists, animators, engineers, and producers to develop digital learning experiences for children. Candidates should have deep expertise and practical experience in teaching math and science in early childhood, including toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary-aged children. Successful candidates will possess subject matter expertise in science and mathematics.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Curriculum team members to define best practice for instructional approaches for children aged 2 to 8 years.
- Collaborate with Curriculum team members to develop detailed knowledge maps and scopes and sequences that describe the concepts, principles, and skills needed for a learner to meaningfully engage with a topic.
- Write clear, detailed, accurate, and precise specifications for the development of high-quality learning activities.
- Review learning activities for mathematical and scientific accuracy.
- Collaborate with other curriculum specialists, game designers, artists, engineers, and producers to develop learning activities that align with specifications.
- Review learning activities throughout the production process to ensure that they apply best-practice approaches to instruction, practice, and assessment and that they are developmentally appropriate.
- Stay current on trends and best practices in education and curriculum design as well as relevant competitor’s products.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of teaching experience in early childhood / elementary age settings
- 2+ years of curriculum development experience in a commercial, nonprofit, or other educational publishing environment (preferred)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education or other related field
- Deep understanding of how very young children learn
- Deep understanding of how families can best support the development of very young children
- Deep subject matter expertise in math and science
- Exemplary communication skills, especially in writing, with an emphasis on clarity, organization, and precision
