The Role:

Tag Games is building a brand new world-leading, cross-platform IP played by millions of gamers and we need a Quest Designer to join the team to help do this.

You will be collaborating closely with other disciplines to create memorable quests for the player to experience making the main storyline impactful and exhilarating and also creating engaging side-quests that tempt the player to explore and delve further into the history and lore of the world.

You will be flexible, highly motivated, and approachable, and you will compose design documentation to a high standard. A core part of the design team and a huge part of this new product, you will have considerable responsibility and autonomy in the design and your tasks.

Here's what you will be doing:

  • Work closely with the World & Narrative to take the main narrative and turn it into well-paced, exciting, dramatic quests that keep the player engaged and eager to find out what happens next.
  • Work closely with the design team to create rich and engaging side-quests that direct, delight, and reward the player for their exploration of the world and discovering its backstory and lore.
  • Work closely with World, Narrative, Zone & Dungeon designers to create distinctive, engaging, and memorable experiences within zones & dungeons.
  • Help to establish creative guidelines and metrics to define quest flow and experiences.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to create game content that delivers a rewarding and exciting experience for the player.
  • Participate in required production-related meetings and functions as needed. Attend and participate in quest content-specific discussions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with World, Narrative, Zone & Dungeon, Encounter, & Combat designers to continually monitor and balance the experience in zones and dungeons.

To do this job, you will need:

  • 3+ years of industry experience in a game design position.
  • Proven experience with quest design in at least one project.
  • Excellent understanding of quest design fundamentals and the role of quest design in the overall player experience.
  • Experience taking quests from concept to completion – from high concepts to fully functional quests in at least one of the existing game engines.
  • A strong ability to identify and solve problems throughout all stages of development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of one of the following game genres. Strategy, MMO, RPG.
  • A genuine passion for games.

While not required, below are nice to have:

  • Experience creating quests for MMO games.
  • Experience scripting in C# (Unity), or similar.
  • Experience in writing quest narratives under the direction of Narrative design.
