ABOUT US:

Archiact Interactive is a Virtual Reality (VR) Game Studio that develops new and unique ways for people to play games and interact with each other. We partner with IP holders, large publishers, and tech brands to create and deliver immersive, high-end game experiences across multiple platforms with a special focus on building new tools for cutting-edge emerging technology. We are a hybrid studio with employees all across Canada, reporting into our headquarters in Vancouver, BC. We have a new studio incorporated in Toronto, Ontario. Our Ontario studio is 100% remote at this time, with plans to open a new office in the future.

OUR GAMES:

We have published over 30 VR tiles since 2013 on every major platform and in every major global market. Recent titles include DOOM 3: VR Edition (on PSVR), FREEDIVER: Triton Down (on PC, PSVR and Oculus Quest), and MARVEL: Dimension of Heroes (a smartphone-powered Superhero experience built for Lenovo Mirage AR). We are currently in the early stages of several new and highly innovative projects with prominent industry partners and are searching for the best and the brightest to help us transform the world of VR game development.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a passionate QA Lead who enjoys working on an agile and fast paced team that is bringing high quality VR projects to life. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for the testing of the product to detect issues and report defects for the development team. Partnering closely with the Audio, Engineering, Production, and Design departments, the Quality Assurance Lead spearheads the thorough testing of the project and submission process on various VR projects.

We are a hybrid Vancouver-based studio so are happy to consider candidates from all over Canada to work remotely. We also offer relocation assistance to candidates who wish to move to BC, Canada.

ABOUT YOU:

You are comfortable working in a close-knit and collaborative team with a wide range of skill sets and personalities. You enjoy the creative problem-solving process required to bring original concepts and high-profile IPs to life in an immersive experience. You thrive in teams and are open to bringing new ideas to the table to assist in raising the quality bar of the end product.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the project planning and testing through all phases of development.
  • Manage the Jira database, bug reports, testing for development milestones and product submissions.
  • Define and implement metrics, reporting mechanisms, and testing methodologies.
  • Actively test the game, report and regress bugs.
  • Work with QA outsourcing teams to facilitate effective testing results and reporting.
  • Work with the development team leads to ensure effective communication regarding build health and bug reporting is maintained.
  • Drive towards effective resolution of issues.
  • Mentor the team of QA specialists and foster their growth.
  • Own and recommend improvements to our QA processes.
  • Assess staffing needs and assist with recruiting and training of new talent.
  • Encourage best practices for testing and test automation.
  • Assist production with ensuring the team meets the outlined schedule of milestones and deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVE:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • A team-player attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a QA role for games with emphasis on multiple platforms.
  • Experience in leadership.
  • Experience with Jira database bug tracking and Agile development.
  • Knowledge with test plan creation and bug writing processes.
  • Comfortable with continuous deployment and build automation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills interfacing with internal multidisciplinary teams and external testing teams.
  • A passion for games.
  • Experience working with and testing VR/AR hardware.
  • Experience creating games on multiple platforms (PC, Console, Mobile, VR/AR).
  • Experience testing games on multiple platforms (PC, Console, Mobile, VR/AR).

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Related Bachelor's Degree/Diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
