QA Specialist - Game Engine

Duration: Full time, Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm
This team aims to produce a functional, reliable, usable and high-performance product for our game developers. As a QA Specialist, you will join with the QA team to test, track, and achieve quality targets for the specialized technologies within the engine.
With thousands of game engine users worldwide, every defect you catch and every problem you prevent has wide, positive impacts. We use a range of methodologies from white box, grey box, and black box testing, and are looking for you to utilize quality practices and uphold quality within our team. You will experience in-depth product designs, get to use the game engine editor to create unique test cases, execute test strategies for implementation and integration of technologies, and will identify defects as early as possible in the development cycle.
Requirements
- Execute on test plans to test our software and technologies, following guidelines set by the greater quality group.
- Track key performance indicators and contributing to quality reports.
- Provide feedback on and understand the impacts of newly created or changed workflows with a customer’s perspective in mind.
- Foster strong working relationships with QA and development partners.
- Always be looking for opportunities to improve the quality of your team’s process and workflows.
- Collaborate with your QA colleagues to mitigate cross-project risks and to produce group-wide quality improvements.
Technical Skills and Experience:
- Experience with asset editors or experience using:
- Unity, Unreal Engine, GameMaker, Maya, etc.
- Previous QA work experience
- Basic proficiency in development planning tools and defect tracking tools (e.g. Hansoft, JIRA, DevTrack, TestRail, etc).
Soft Skills:
- Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to speak up and provide ideas in efficiency or usability.
- Detail oriented and conscientious
- Proactive – you take initiative and ask questions
- Ability to execute on test plans without constant supervision. Proactiveness is key
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task across competing demands.
Bonus skills and experience:
- Extensive experience with game engines, content & asset editors, and shared technologies.
- Experience working with external and remote teams.
- Basic proficiency with software development tools like Perforce (i.e. understands concept of version control).
- Understanding of software development processes and SDLC (Agile preferred).
Location: Burnaby
Salary: $21.50- 24.50/hr
