The QA Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality standard of the project. This person will manage the daily efforts of the QA teams by allocating resources and maintaining a productive and efficient test team through test cycles. The QA Manager will also define and develop testing procedures and test plans whilst working with remote and/or outsourced teams to ensure consistent QA practices between all teams.
The focus of the QA Manager will be to provide testing support for the Game and Engine development teams whilst working closely with Production. This individual will be responsible for defining and executing solutions for both development and live QA needs, including reproducing issues, analysing new features and testing changes in a rapidly iterative environment. In addition, the QA Manager will deploy effective mentoring and management to promote positive, collaborative culture and individual growth opportunity for the team.
Responsibilities
- Act as QA leader and, in collaboration with production and game direction, implement a consistent organized QA process.
- Lead, mentor, and hire QA Analysts for our internal QA teams.
- Be accountable for the quality of all work of the QA team.
- Ensure all resources are effectively allocated and tasked to keep multiple projects on schedule.
- Drive test development, estimation, planning, execution, reporting, and closure.
- Participate in creating and improving QA pipelines and processes to improve team productivity and reduce risk to the schedule.
- Analyse product quality and usability, associated system limitations, and report on risk to development leadership.
- Report to production and technical director on relevant trends, usage rates and effectiveness of solutions for quality assurance.
- Represent QA at any cross-team technology meetings.
Requirements
- Previous experience shipping AAA titles highly desirable.
- Previous experience with Sony/MS TRC/TCR process highly desirable.
- Proven track record of managing QA teams in a fast-paced development environment.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; able to find root causes of issues efficiently.
- Exceptional leadership skills and demonstrated commitment to quality.
- Experience working with external test teams and ensuring consistent practices and quality.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Excellent ability to lead, inspire, and develop people.
- Strong English skills (written as well as verbal).
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence a plus.
- Experience with MS Windows / Office products required.
- Strong technical knowledge relating to IT and Video Games desirable.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude and driven to creatively solve problems.
