QA Manager - Two Point Studios

Two Point Studios was formed in early 2016 to create accessible but deep simulation games that didn’t take themselves too seriously - we call them little people games. In 2018, the fruit of our loins came forth and Two Point Hospital was born into the world to much acclaim. We are now part of the SEGA family and we’re loving it. We are keen to push forward with our plans to create a world of little people games in Two Point County and to grow its reach beyond the PC. We’re excited and ambitious and we need someone to come on board and help us realise this vision.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The QA Manager position is a senior role at Two Point, and represents a rare and unique opportunity to help us drive forward with our vision of exciting and beautifully-crafted games. The QA Manager will work closely with all areas of the studio and forge relationships throughout our parent company, Sega, and manage external teams to help us become the best version of ourselves.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility for ensuring our products maintain the highest possible quality standards
- Building and managing an internal test team
- Directing external QA teams and holding all QA partners to account and ensuring our quality standards are maintained at all times
- Developing a relationship with the internal Sega support team, both in London and Bulgaria
- Develop, manage, review and control all QA budgets - both internal and external - ensuring we are always achieving value for money
- Responsible for developing effective dashboards and reporting QA activities
- Understanding and communicating issues, risks, and problems affecting the wider QA strategy
- Planning and running playtests and usability tests within the studio, as well working with external companies
- Responsible for release management - ensuring that our games are ready for release to the public by coordinating with all relevant areas
- Ensuring effective test processes are in place to serve live operations
- Oversee work experience program
- You will also be expected to play and test our games. Feeding back on issues, balance and features. Working with design team to focus on key areas as required
- You will need to be prepared to travel, including overseas
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
- 4+ years QA Experience in the video games industry, including 1+ year as Lead or Manager
- Strong knowledge of processes within a QA and Development team
- Experience in devising and developing a "test plan", as well as mentoring and managing a team to deliver against it. Ensuring external partners are adhering to our quality standards
- Proven understanding of the game development lifecycle
- Ability to work unsupervised and maintain focus and commitment
- Knowledge of First-Party Publishing Standards
- Experience working with and maintaining various Database Management software applications including JIRA
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel
- Excellent understanding of various test methodologies / testing approaches
- Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise tasks and complete them in a timely manner
- Technical proficiency and an understanding of different platforms, hardware and peripherals
- Ability to think ahead and identify tasks that need to be carried out with the motivation to complete these on own initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have initiative to work with the development team to create test plans based on fast changing requirements
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in QA within a gaming development studio will be considered a substantial advantage
- Proven proficiency using JIRA
- Experience with creating and managing automated testing
- Proven technical proficiency and an understanding of different platforms, hardware and peripherals
- Good understanding of Perforce and Unity Engine
