QA Engineer – Build Delivery Specialist

As a QA Engineer you will have the opportunity to work closely with all our development teams in order to assist in the timely and complete delivery of builds. This will include working on all our titles and with external teams, including those in China. We are looking for someone with strong communication and organisational skills who can apply a methodical approach to tasks and problem solving. This will help to facilitate the collaboration of various aspects of development to create a stable working build of our titles.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in QA in a development environment, who is familiar with the development process and has a technical background within a relevant field of software development.
Key Responsibilities
The primary functions of the role are to find, grade and report defects completely and concisely and aid in the reproduction and further investigation of issues as required, communicating key defects, feedback, testing requirements and potential risks to stakeholders in both QA and the rest of the development team.
You will be responsible for driving the delivery and testing of builds sent to external partners including smoke testing builds and liaising between the various specialisations within QA, such as audio, graphics and localisation to ensure all expected content is tested and functional to the required level.
You will be working with various disciplines at CA both in QA and elsewhere in development to assist in ensuring builds contain all the expected updates and are created within expected timeframes, using strong communication and reporting tools.
The objective is to work towards providing the highest overall quality build possible by the given deadlines.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to relay important information in the most suited format
- Fluent in Mandarin and familiar with Chinese culture
- Familiar with digital distribution platforms in video games
- Proficient time management and organisational skills. The ability to handle multiple tasks and meet/ set deadlines as well as prioritise
- Ability to follow set process using a methodical approach when investigating issues
- Ability to self-manage and generate tasks to drive the process and testing of an area
- Experience playing a variety, and wide range, of PC video games including the Real-Time Strategy genre of games
- A passion for video games and a desire to be part of the creative process involved in developing video games
- A University degree or equivalent, in a relevant subject, that can be applied to Games Testing.
Desirable
- Previous QA Experience working in Games, or other related industries, is highly desirable
- Previous experience working on a AAA title in a development studio
- Experience playing the latest titles in the Total War franchise
- Knowledge of the development process and the various disciplines involved
- Experience using Jira, DevSuite and Perforce
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with animation or database related game tools.
