QA Director

Demiurge is looking for an experienced, inspirational QA Director, working across multiple projects with internal and external QA Testers to ensure and maintain a stringent level of quality across all of our games beginning early in the development cycle, continuing into long running live operations. You possess a love of games and genuinely care about the quality of the titles you work on. You are comfortable operating at a senior level; coaching, advising and helping your team to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide and grow the Demiurge QA Testing team through mentorship, feedback and training.
- Coach and manage your direct reports, providing clear objectives to ensure they reach their full potential and identify areas where support is needed
- Expand the QA team size and capabilities through networking and hiring
- Define the QA department’s structure and strategy ensuring we have the right mix of experience, skills and strategy regarding permanent vs. contract testing capabilities
- Lead discussion in defining best practices for testing, testing processes and testing tools to ensure our teams are working as efficiently and effectively as possible
- Identify, procure, mobilize and manage independent testing contractors and/or outsourced QA testing groups
- Identify all QA dept. requirements and attend Heads of Department meetings to ensure your department is accurately represented. Work with cross-functional leaders to identify and resolve gaps in our quality and standards controls
- Develop staffing and hiring plans for building required test expertise where necessary.
- Work with Production, Talent Acquisition and Project Leads to ensure QA recruitment needs are clear and fulfilled at all times
- Continually seek opportunities for improvement in current processes
- Promote quality as a discipline throughout the organization
Must Have Qualifications:
- Prior experience growing, managing and directing internal and external QA Testing teams.
- Extensive hiring, interviewing and career management experience.
- You’ve performed performance reviews and developed career plans that continuously invest in the growth of your testers.
- A deep understanding of the relationship between business goals and software/game quality.
- Ability to balance hands-on work at the start and driving big picture strategy and planning to support a scaling business.
- Experience creating and executing on organization-wide QA goals.
- Familiarity with industry standard tools and advanced understanding of QA best practices.
- Well versed in all aspects of software testing including, but no limited to automated testing, accessibility testing, performance testing, load testing, security testing, configuration and platform testing.
- Game quality leadership experience on multiple shipped titles and through all phases of the development life cycle from conception to live operations.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other cross functional leaders
- 10+ years of game development experience.
Preference to Applicants with:
- Experience using test automation systems (either off the shelf or custom) and involvement in helping define usage and drive adoption.
- Understanding of technical and performance requirements of all platforms with experience creating strategies to assess and adapt to those accordingly.
- Understanding of scaled Agile methodologies and history structuring test teams to support these scaled methodologies and larger teams.
- Administration experience of JIRA bug tracking databases including setup of workflows relevant for their teams.
