THE ROLE
Our studio is looking for a PvE Systems Designer who is a mechanically focused designer who has a passion for creating engaging, challenging PVE content. As our PvE Systems Designer, you'll collaborate with the PVE design lead and the team at large to develop, hold, and drive a vision for PVE system design features during development.
WHO YOU ARE
- You're passionate about PVE design in shooters/ action games, and think actively about how it could be improved.
- Collaborative, low-ego, self-motivated developer.
- Excited about team-based shooter gameplay, and how PVE can amplify or otherwise complement it.
- Excellent understanding of, and ability to speak about, PVE mechanical design: how it works, what it does for the game, why it is important, and how it could be improved.
- Strong ability to collaborate and communicate with the whole team, particularly designers, engineers, and artists, even in a remote work environment.
- Strong sense of design process: able to drive playtesting; collect & synthesize feedback; and own your iterations.
- Capable of creating and updating documentation to explore design thoughts, pitch ideas, achieve alignment, and facilitate asynchronous team communication.
- Independent thinker who is curious about feedback but confident enough to decide whether it's actionable
- Able to understand, align, and adapt with high level project design goals and IP fantasy.
- Shows empathy and respect for their fellow team members.
WHAT YOUR DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE
- You'll work in-engine to develop PVE systems, modes, and experiences, which satisfy clearly defined design goals that you have helped to define and evolve.
- Iterating on PVE designs and content with the team.
- Playtesting the game and giving candid notes on how we can improve it
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years experience as a designer working on PVE; and/or demonstrated proficiency in PVE design and execution via personal portfolio.
- You have demonstrated experience using Unreal Engine and Blueprint visual scripting to create shippable content in a larger project.
- Design experience on a PVP or PVE shooter.
BONUS POINTS
- Experience creating well-architected UI/ menu elements in Unreal.
- Strong design understanding of PVP shooters.
- Strong design understanding of FPS combat principles.
- Expertise in FPS games as a player.
