Project Manager (Production), Exploding Kittens Product Line

Started by former Xbox game designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s founder Matt Inman, Exploding Kittens and its family of games recreates game night for a humorous and fun person-to-person experience. Today, there are over a dozen games and expansions available for purchase: Exploding Kittens, Bears vs Babies, You’ve Got Crabs, Throw Throw Burrito, On a Scale of One to T-Rex, Poetry for Neanderthals A Game of Cat & Mouth, Tacocat Spelled Backwards, A Little Wordy, as well as mobile app games Kitty Letter and Exploding Kittens, one of the top 30 premium games on both iOS and Android.
At Exploding Kittens, the Production team is responsible for coordinating internal / external resources and
stakeholders in the creation of Exploding Kittens games. To further enhance the team’s capabilities, we’re
looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support the
Production Manager, Customer Service, Game Development, Art Department, Sales and Marketing teams.
As a member of our high-performing and fun team, you’ll spearhead the existing Exploding Kittens brand
line and future games. This role reports directly to the VP of Production and Logistics.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:
- Coordinate internal and external resources for the flawless execution of projects, in accordance with cross-functional/stakeholder needs
- Coordinate people and processes to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget and scope
- Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Learn the history behind every piece of art, the action of every card, know the best strategies, dig into the biggest customer service questions and iterate on how the game can evolve
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
- Create and maintain a comprehensive project plan, documentation and dashboards, that are updated daily, for senior management to use to track the progress of all projects for the duration of the product life cycle
- Report and escalate project progress, scope, changes/concerns and or risks to management on a weekly basis and in real time as they occur in order to ensure timely course correction
- Collaborate with cross-functional department heads, executive team and CEO to resolve any discrepancies involving the physical product, our website and retail platforms with existing games across English and localized versions
- Organize, attend and participate, lead when applicable, in stakeholder meetings
- May involve some travel
- All other assignments as directed by management
- The scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands
WHAT YOU’ LL BRING:
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the ability to make “the complex” simple, easy to understand, and a little fun!
- A proactive “do-er” with a point of view and a clear approach to measuring, analyzing, and presenting data---providing actionable recommendations
- A friendly-team player with a positive attitude, passion for games & entertainment who can take and give feedback (no egos)
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
WHAT WE NEED:
- Bachelor's degree, PMP certification a plus
- 5+ years project management experience in creative/ tabletop game publishing industry, related field, or equivalent experience
- Extraordinary attention to detail, proven analytical skills, ability to integrate and analyze raw data sets from multiple sources, and draw conclusions
- Experience working in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial, diverse, and cross-functional organization
- Extremely comfortable working with a diverse and globally dispersed team across many time zones
- No fear of technology and working across multiple platforms; comfort in an entirely MAC-based (OS-X) work environment with a high degree of online connectivity
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work on tight deadlines and shift focus between multiple time sensitive projects
