As a team lead within the technology group of Ubi Annecy, you are the guide of a team of talented and inspired programmers and data scientists, responsible for the development of technologies essential to the creation of the games long awaited by Ubisoft fans. What you'll do
A typical day is to bring your team together to discuss the progress of the assigned tasks. You review notable bugs and see how best to approach them. You communicate regularly with heads of other disciplines to plan, assess risks and deliver on time. You are sometimes called upon to actively participate in the programming process with your team.
You keep your project manager up-to-date on the evolution of your mandates and you meet other managers, both from your project and from others, to discuss ways to improve processes and share technologies. You are also responsible for supporting each member of your team in improving their technical and interpersonal skills. You have their well-being at heart and you actively participate in their development within the organization.
More specifically, you will be responsible for managing a team focused on extracting insights from all of Ubisoft's code repositories as well as data from game crashes and performance profiling, with the goal of preventing the introduction of defects within games. This team is part of a larger domain of around 60 people, based in Montreal. Therefore you will be expected to share and collaborate with people with various expertises (engine runtime, data, backend, web front-end, desktop apps, QA, UX, product and project management) within the domain, as well as with partners in game productions and services
Qualifications
What you bring
- A degree in computer engineering
- A minimum of 8 years of software development experience
- A minimum of 3 years experience in managing a team of programmers (task distribution, performance evaluation, etc.)
- A good command of different programming languages and data science/machine learning concepts and practices
- Excellent communication and strategic leadership skills
- The ability to stay calm in difficult situations (you know there is always a solution)
- The ability to put yourself in the shoes of other trades and users of your systems
- Strong interest in the video game production process
