We are looking for a Lead Programmer be the technical leader, as a generalist engineer who can connect technologies across domains and areas of expertise, translating the creative vision into implementation in a game engine.
You have expertise in programming, gameplay systems, and game engine technologies, complemented by an analytical and creative mindset. You also have experience leading game development programming teams, experience creating immersive game experiences, and the capability to inspire and mentor team members, aligning them with the project's technical vision. You believe in the cooperation between gameplay, art, and engineering, and will bridge ideas with the latest research from SEED and the latest technology at EA, to develop experiences that were previously beyond reach.
This new initiative is made up of a hybrid of top talent, all working together in the beautiful city of Montréal, Québec, Canada. With its rich history of game development, this vibrant, creative hub is the perfect backdrop for our endeavour.
You will report to the team’s Game Design Director.
As a Lead Programmer at SEED, you will:
- Lead the development of demos across the entire stack, contributing to ensure seamless integration of frontend and backend technologies and components in service of the experience.
- Define the framework for rapid prototyping to support the creative direction of the group.
- Develop systems to ensure seamless integration of game design across all components of projects.
- Collaborate with other team members to align technical solutions with the vision.

We are looking for an open and curious person who gets a kick out of taking new ideas, investigating them, and adapting their application to games. You have a desire to explore new areas of game development—someone who is passionate, creative, communicative, and invested.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in the games industry
- Shipped AAA games on consoles and PC or mobile devices.
- Experience in game development engineering, with a generalist background in both front-end and back-end game engine subsystems.
- Demoscene mindset, with the ability to balance the technical with practical considerations.
- You want to collaborate with game designers, artists, and other engineers to achieve project goals.
- Knowledge of game engines, from the front end to the back end.
- Willingness to travel for conferences and visit teams across EA studios.
- You care about video games.
