Blackbird Interactive has an exciting and unique opportunity for a new Unity Online Programmer. You would be joining a small but mighty team of developers to work on one of our newest original IP projects! This is a chance to jump into development on a game that has just entered production. Challenges and big victories await you!
Responsibilities
- Work alongside a small team of enthusiastic coders to solve challenging problems
- Plan and implement the online gameplay layer of a co-op turn-based strategy game
- Engage with gameplay programmers to support all game features in an online setting
- Enable and support matchmaking, player parties, lobbies and invites
- Set up online services such as platform authentication, achievements and leaderboards
Requirements
- 5+ years developing games in Unity
- Solid understanding of C# 9.0
- Shipped at least one game made in Unity
- Full grasp of how a client-server architecture works
- Good understanding of reliable UDP and other network protocols
- Familiarity with solutions to avoid lag such as dead reckoning and interpolation
- Experience with deterministic logic and its challenges
- Love for Turn-Based Strategy games
Pluses
- Experience implementing online asynchronous gameplay
- Experience developing mid-session player drop-in
- Experience using HTTP for ease of firewall traversal
- Experience setting up daily or weekly events
- Experience with telemetry
