Production Manager
At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That’s where you come in!
The Digital Platforms organization in our Digital Game Development studio is responsible for building powerful digital products, apps, websites, and tools to empower our ecosystem of games, apps, and teams to succeed.
We’re looking for an outstanding Production Manager to help us reach new heights and mature our production processes during the most exciting time to join Wizards in its 25+ year history. In the short term, you will be "rolling up your sleeves" to work in the details and day-to-day product development. In the long-term, there’s the potential of helping to craft the future of the studio.
If you love building community solutions formed around shared passions, and harnessing chaos and complexity to produce purpose, then we would love to talk with you!
What You'll Do:
- Team and dotted-line management. Manage a group of 4-6 technical producers and coordinate with producers embedded in different groups.
- Product portfolio production. Oversee production for a portfolio of Platform products. Ensure that each schedule for every product is being set up correctly and accurately, and changes/improvements are propagated through each team’s production plan.
- Up-level Processes. Analyze the overlap of all product schedules and work with engineering managers, product leads, and producers across the company to minimize risk and solve capacity/throughput issues.
- Capacity Planning. Work with managers and producers to forecast capacity for budget planning and long-term resourcing strategy across the entire studio.
- Manage the central nervous system. Collaborate to assess and evolve current tools/systems/processes across the studio. This includes ownership of internal greenlights, morale events, surveys, hiring, and may include vendor (software and personnel) management.
- Build toward the future. Work with studio leadership to develop production tools/structures/methodologies for where we’re going in the next 3-5 years, while still executing toward today.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience as a senior or lead producer, program manager, or technical project manager, ideally in either a technology or gaming, environment. 4+ years preferred.
- Proven experience managing others, preferably 3+ years managing 3 or more direct reports.
- Comfort and confidence with switching focus between the day-to-day details vs. looking at the big picture and envisioning the farther future.
- You enjoy being around passionate, creative people and creating diverse teams in psychologically safe environments for all your people.
- You love communicating, listening, and solving complex and constantly evolving problems and opportunities. This is where you excel and have a track record to prove it.
- Demonstrated success at delivering results for technology teams, ideally in remote or distributed environments.
- Flexible and comfortable navigating an multi-team environment of rapid change and growth. Demonstrated experience iterating, executing, and sustaining sophisticated process improvement and change management in a matrixed organization.
In the Wizards Digital Platforms Studio, we believe diversity of experience is fundamental to creating accessible and fun gaming experiences for *all* of our players. We encourage everyone to consider being a part of our team.
