Summary:
Age of Learning, Inc. is seeking a highly collaborative and detail-oriented, Production Manager for our Globalization team. This role is responsible for helping realize the successful completion of globalization production efforts, in support of Age of Learning’s global products, and in close collaboration with various internal teams, with a special emphasis on vendor communications and process management. In close concert with the Globalization department head, the Production Manager will work collaboratively inside and outside the GX team to manage product deliveries, from text, audio, video, graphics, animation overdubs, and live-action content, to fully integrated, localized products.
Responsibilities:
- Creating GX team documentation, workflow (re-)design, and setting SLAs with external teams
- Enforce rules for GX/GQA Jira ticket workflows, with an always-current dashboard of work in progress
- Triage and prioritize incoming globalization requests
- Lead project planning, Structure (Jira plugin) tracking, and status reporting
- Assisting department head in completion of globalization initiatives, and representing the team on behalf of GX team in meetings
- Lead a team of Globalization Producers and delegate tasks to them
- Manage and streamline communications between globalization production and vendors
- Negotiate with teams where scheduling conflicts arise
- Forecast future bandwidth constraints and alert department head
- Review existing and emerging technologies/practices to ensure the team is up to date
- Lead postmortems at the conclusion of major globalization initiatives, and feedback into future efforts
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years direct experience in content production, both interactive/digital and print
- Mature understanding of project management best practices, tools, agile and water flow processes
- Mature understanding of web/app production and development life cycles
- Able to identify potential roadblocks in incoming/upcoming globalization requests and clear the path
- Able to effectively negotiate and serve as chief diplomat across teams to reach optimal results
- Ability to accurately estimate level of effort across all aspects of work performed by globalization team
- Effectively track and communicate project status, and be able to explain to those who are unfamiliar
- Experience using Jira or other industry-standard process management software
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of project management or production experience creating interactive games for mobile and PC and/or overdubbing
- Professional experience in the localization industry, or as a member of a localization/globalization team
- Involvement in the successful launch of localized products as part of previous role(s)
- Mature experience streamlining production processes to maximize efficiency, including those unique to globalization work
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information regardless of the audience
- Ability to think critically, strategically, and analytically in organizing and operating globalization projects
- Technical understanding of web/app development languages and processes (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Unity), including resource/audio/video file formats, and encoding issues/considerations
- Experience producing apps or content in the ed-tech or game industry preferred
- Experience in product development for kids and families preferred
- Experience using Smartling, memoQ, Trados, Transifex, XTM Cloud, Memsource or other language management platforms
