On being a Production Assistant Intern in the Performance Capture department
Our large team of experts bring your story to life. The 8,000 square foot studio is outfitted with 80 Vicon T-160 cameras to capture subtle performances with extreme accuracy, perfect for everything from a solo performance to large multi-character scenes.
Our studio is also a professional sound stage ready to record high-fidelity audio, virtually eliminating the need for ADR. The Ubisoft Toronto Performance Capture Studio delivers the ultimate in immersive entertainment experiences.
Working within the performance capture department, the incumbent will design, implement, and ensure the proper functioning of the software that will help improve the efficiency of the production team.

Type of Position: Full-time, paid internship.
Length: Summer 2020 (May-August, 4 months)
The daily life of a Performance Capture Production Assistant Intern at Ubisoft Toronto
- Suit and marker up motion capture talent;
- Maintain and use complex computer systems and camera hardware to capture human/animal/object performances;
- Assist Capture Technicians with several ongoing R&D projects;
- Setup, maintain and capture using our DSLR 3d scanning systems;
- Assisting Propmaster with props and set construction;
- Tasks surrounding the day to day maintenance of a busy production studio.
What it takes to make it
- Working toward a degree/diploma/certification in, Film and Television Arts, New Media, Cinematography, Computer Science, VFX or 3D Animation/Modelling;
- Some experience in a production environment;
- Some knowledge of the following programming languages: Python, C#;
- A passion for lifelong learning;
- Working Knowledge of Game Engines, specifically Virtual Cinematography and/or willingness to learn.
Nice to have
- Strong problem-solving skills;
- Working knowledge of the following software: Motionbuilder, Maya, Unreal, Unity, zBrush, Reality Capture, Wrap3, Photoscan, Shogun, and/or Office 360 suite;
- Motion Capture experience – specifically Vicon Motion Capture Systems (Shogun, Blade or iQ);
- Prop Building or carpentry skills;
- Video System experience including timecode and live sync of multiple sources;
- Electronics- design, soldering, raspberry Pi, Arduino;
- Autonomous and resourceful;
- Ability to take initiative;
- Attention to detail;
- Flexibility in work organization;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Ability to adapt to change;
- Results-oriented.
