2015: Bangalore touchdown. We started small but with a big dream - to build mobile apps that entertain India.
Early Wins In no time, we evolved into a dynamic 30+ member team and our first game got over 10 Million downloads. Got Blume to invest in our adventure.
Bigwigs came onboard. We raised over $10 million in funding, thanks to industry stalwarts like Accel, Blume and Shunwei and grew to 50+ awesome people!
Making India Play. Our users, who we lovingly call ‘Pritam’ or 'Preeti', are spending over 70 million minutes of time per month on our platforms.
With Jio's aggressive entry, mobile data became affordable to additional hundreds of millions. These hundreds of millions of Indians are under-served w.r.t. digital products and services competing for their attention. Over the next 5 years, 500 million more Indians are expected to adopt digital platforms.
Their online behaviour is different from the behaviour of the audience in tier-1 India. For them, typing is an *unnatural* way of interacting with the smartphone. They're not as comfortable with English-first apps; they strongly prefer to consume online content in vernacular languages.
These users' way of looking at mobile games is quite interesting. It might be a shopkeeper in Lucknow, or a beauty salon employee in Jodhpur. They spend 12-14 hours a day at work, and have a lot of time alone- especially in the afternoon.
Hello Play allows them an escape mechanism from societal constraints, and they get a *human* connection with real people from across India with similar interests. We provide the most entertaining way of discovering new people and creating deep relationships. The product fulfils the innate need of human connection and the natural attraction towards entertainment through gaming.
We've observed during our 12 hour+ train journeys that co-travellers, who are strangers to each other, play a game of cards or Ludo to pass time. We've met a lot of interesting people this way ourselves, which makes us strongly believe in games as some of the best ice-breakers.

About the Product team at Mech Mocha
The heart of Mech Mocha. The product team sits at the confluence of vision, data, intuition, people management, engineering, design, and most importantly, the users. We are all about speed and problem solving. This is where all the magic happens.
- We prioritize speed over everything else. We hack it till we validate it. A half-baked release today is better than a full-fledged one tomorrow.
- We respect our users a lot. Without them, we would not have our jobs. So we spend a lot of time understanding their daily lives.

Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for achieving benchmark product quality
- Identify and analyze best practices for optimization and feature implementation
- Drive user and competitive research to uncover user segments
- Identify user needs and product value propositions that resonate with discrete audience segments
- Build a comprehensive and detailed plan for in-app events including sales, limited-time events, and altering configurations for repeating events
- Directly manage the implementation of events- concept, asset management, configuration, testing & execution
- Work with the live-ops team and supporting teams to ensure we have a robust process to build assets for all events, and that all assets are created ahead of time
- Lead a cross functional team to identify areas of improvement and optimize product features
- Own schedule, targets and overall success of promotions and in-app events
- Conduct user testing sessions with our users
What we are looking for
- Quantitative or technical degree like engineering, math, economics, finance; strong preference for engineers from top institutions like IIT, BITS, NIT, IIIT Hyderabad etc.
- 1-3 years Product Management experience
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Shepherding ideas from the concept stage, understanding problems deeply through user research and analytics, synthesizing research, exploring diverse approaches and understanding trade-offs
- A deep sense of ownership and collaboration. Take initiative, work hard, learn and unlearn, communicate clearly, be nice and have fun!
- Highly organized. Able to quickly identify and prioritize opportunities for optimal ROI
Brownie points for
- Proficient with common data tools like SQL, Tableau, Redshift etc.
- Deep knowledge of how to drive engagement and monetization in apps
- Multiple success stories of collaborating with the team, identifying opportunities, building features from scratch, driving revenue and retention objectives
- Having founded (or having held a leadership role at) a consumer-facing startup
- Getting hands dirty with execution, not on ‘gyaan’
- Experience of first hand interaction with users for research
