THE ROLE
The Product Lead at ustwo is key to ensuring that the work we do results in us shipping something that is commercially viable, meets key business objectives, has product/market fit and represents the optimal value we can possibly deliver in the time available. Our Product Leads are all generally multidisciplinary. We are now looking for a Product Lead role to join a multi-disciplinary team, taking responsibility for optimisation and growth.
You bridge the gap between the business, technology and design. You can lead and motivate a cross-functional project team. You proactively look to move our client relationships, product practice and studio forward. You have the knowledge to shape all aspects of a product and service. You feel as confident in making tough decisions and calling out issues on UX, design and build quality as you do setting expectations and managing stakeholders.
You are always helping us improve process, approaches, and strategy for both the product team and the studio as a whole.
THE TEAM & PROJECT
Joe Wicks MBE (aka The Body Coach) made his name in the UK as a fitness expert with heart. In 2020, he inspired people around the world to log in for daily exercise during lockdown, getting 80 million YouTube views and raising over £500,000 for NHS charities. But before that – Joe asked us to turn his successful 90-day health and fitness plan into a digital experience, and we jumped at the chance. We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Lead to join a fast-paced team to continue evolving, optimising and growing the The Body Coach app & service.
We have designed a new business model, a subscription strategy, a back-end system to support clients with their progress and a website to communicate Joe’s vision. We are now in the exciting phase of looking at how to continuously evolve the product and how to scale to meet the vision and the potential of this product!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a successful Product Lead - Growth, you’ll know when and where to seek out information, you’re comfortable with data and analytics, you are a good negotiator and will set your teams up for success by giving a clear direction and priorities for the product. You’ll facilitate constant communication and bring clarity to your team, the client and the ustwo leadership.
In your role, you will;
- Work closely with client stakeholders to distil objectives and success metrics
- Provide leadership to the team, owning the user funnels within the product and major business KPIs in order to drive impact
- Champion customer needs by generating qualitative and quantitative insights.
- Advocate for the user. Create a deep understanding of user and business needs within the team and client and able to set validation strategies to inform direction which support the business goals most, and ultimately to mitigate risk.
- Use data and analytics to experiment, test and to ultimately drive growth for the product.
- Develop a vision for how we can use experimentation to drive growth from within the product, using a combination of methods and creative approaches to drive step-changes to growth
- Assess existing features on an ongoing basis by tracking and learning from their performance.
- Define processes and product improvements for continually learning from and iteratively improve the user experience
- Build, prioritize, and maintain the feature backlog for the product
- Work with your delivery team to deliver features, experiments, and optimisations efficiently in an agile development environment
- Enable the team and our clients to understand the purpose and direction of the work at any time and support the communication of user needs, business goals or tech constraints ensuring everyone is clear and aligned.
- Build business cases for your recommendations and communicate them effectively to clients and teams, with storytelling methods appropriate to the task at hand, be that a presentation, prototype, or table of data

You have experience with the following:
Leading teams
You inspire and educate people and teams (including the client) of all levels and abilities, around getting the right product to market.
Creating successful product stories
You have significant experience leading the development of a diverse range of well loved digital products/services from end-to-end, scalable in size and complexity. You have the experience to supplement a client’s own product capability if required.
Taking calculated risks
You have fostered an experimental, hypotheses-led approach to product and business challenges.
Data, analytics, optimisation
You enjoy finding actionable insights from qualitative and quantitative research, and are well-versed in mixed methodologies to drive growth for the product.
Focussing on value creation
Experienced at applying frameworks to organisational and business challenges and can clearly explain your rationale for the methods used.
Helping others to succeed
Have a history of developing people and teams and have stories of your ability to identify and unlock the potential in others. It’s something you get great pleasure from.
Are a natural storyteller
You’re able to explain decisions as well as articulate concepts and ideas in a persuasive manner for our clients and our teams alike.
Are commercially astute
Able to identify and influence new opportunities to grow products and projects. You can empathise with, and speak to, the client’s and ustwo commercial considerations.
Market awareness
You know where the bar is set, what clients are looking for and where product teams need to be aiming, drawing inspiration from outside.
Drive agile methodologies
Together with the Delivery Coach you will drive the team using Agile methodologies to deliver the user and business value.
