We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Product Analytics team within AppLovin. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with exciting features/products in the mobile AdTech space and partner with senior leadership across the business. We are looking for candidates who are quick learners, enjoy working in a horizontal fast paced environment, have strong problem-solving skills, and are passionate about using their technical prowess to build processes and reports that monitor and automate our advertising business and provide technical support for our advertising partners. This candidate should be self-motivated, results-oriented and sharp.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with internal business leads and external advertising customers to solve complex problems. Being a strategic critical thinker who doesn’t shy away from tackling challenging open-ended problems and enjoys coming up with innovative solutions is key to this role. Our goal is to explain how our systems work, while identifying opportunities to improve on our own product and add value to the business.
- Analyze & debug data discrepancies between us and our partners. The types of issues we debug can typically be phrased as “why are the numbers reported by AppLovin different from the numbers reported by…?”. To solve these questions, we often pull logs and reconstruct numbers from first principles.
- Automate internal processes and write reports to monitor performance. We have a culture of automating frequently requested tasks and analyses and have built a large Python repository that includes a lot of reporting and data synchronization code. There is a lot of room to grow and take ownership of projects that interest you. Examples of the types of projects we own are fraud analysis, slack alerting, and data pipelines for our Salesforce instance.
- Project management: write clear, detailed, and high quality project specs. Set priorities and define project requirements.
- Work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams such as business development, growth, marketing, legal, etc. to manage the entire project scope which includes ideation, development, testing, deployment, measurement and refinement/iterations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Exposure to programming. Either a BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering, math, economics, finance, statistics or a related technical discipline OR previous experience writing code.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical or analytical role (doesn’t have to be a job) - ideally working with a software product.
- Exceptional analytical literacy and quantitative problem-solving skills. Has the ability to make data-driven decisions but can also look beyond the data and holistically assess situations.
- Experience collaborating with highly technical engineering teams and driving complex projects from ideation to go live.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills. An ideal candidate will be able to scope projects, estimate timelines, and coordinate with stakeholders.
- Able to be self sufficient and execute quickly when given autonomy. This is a small team that sits at the cross section of many other teams. Candidates need to be driven, independent, comfortable researching, building, and debugging solutions on their own.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python. If you are familiar with inheritance, type hinting, and Pandas, our Python codebase should make sense to you.
- Experience with Salesforce. A lot of our process automations rely on Salesforce as an interface for business teams.
- Experience with REST APIs. We deal in data integrations, so understanding REST concepts and being able to abstract them into classes is common.
- Experience writing SQL queries. Internal data and Salesforce use SQL, so SQL is to internal data as REST is to external data.
- A sense of what it means to write simple and maintainable code.
- Previous experience in the mobile or AdTech space and/or prior experience in a startup environment
