Our UI/UX Team at Insomniac Games is growing! We're looking for a talented UI/UX Programmer interested in helping us make industry-inspiring player experiences that are approachable, accessible, and immersive for everyone. We work collaboratively and cross-functionally to develop innovative player experiences and need someone interested in playing a major role in delivering world-class games for players of all abilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Own and iterate on novel user-facing features and systems through all phases of the development cycles from prototype to polish across multiple games and has impact across all of the PlayStation Studios.
  • Develop strategic direction for the department, enabling and encouraging the entire UI/UX department to make excellence a central part of the development process
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and developers to implement and deploy consistent and intuitive user experiences that support the art, design, and technical vision for our games.
  • Challenge and evolve what is possible with existing UI/UX tools and impacts current industry trends, actively advancing the studio's skills and abilities.
  • Seek long-term opportunities for the department and coordinate the effort necessary to make them a reality.
  • Instill and promote a culture of learning and development across the studio and beyond.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of technological developments in the game industry through research and training.
  • Work iteratively through all phases of the game development cycle from prototype to polish, delivering code that is readable, functional, set the standard and exceeds requirements.
  • Cultivate and champion a culture of empathy, fostering psychological safety of within the organization.
  • Advocate relentlessly for our players and the end-to-end user experience.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • More than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert-level grasp of digital interaction design fundamentals and patterns.
  • Mastery of C++, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and/or other related front-end development languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of procedural and object-oriented programming paradigms.
  • Ability to adapt and adhere to the prevalent coding style and practices, including source control standards.
  • Familiarity with commercial content creation packages (Adobe suite, specifically Flash/Animate, or Maya) a plus.
  • 3D and/or Coherent experience also a major bonus.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
