Requirements
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced UI Artist to join us at Principal level and lead our UI team to design and create high quality, intuitive UI that defines how players interact with our games. The role requires proven artistic capabilities, an affinity for UX principles, great communication skills and the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the UI team across all of our products and working closely with our Project teams and studios.
- Engaging in a broad range of duties from UI concepting and prototyping, asset production, animation and working with Unreal (UMG)
- Maintaining the art direction to deliver a cohesive aesthetic for any given project.
- Collaborating with wider 2D/UI team as well as Code, Design and VFX teams on various projects.
- Mentoring and coaching the development of junior members of the team to share skills and knowledge and raise the capabilities of the team.
- Designing and building contemporary, striking UI solutions, setting the standard for VR interfaces.
- Investigating and developing new UI related techniques, tools and pipelines
Who Are We Looking For?
Essential capabilities
- An expert in their discipline - a driven, experienced, innovative, versatile and collaboratively minded UI artist with a high degree of competency in graphic design, demonstrating affinity for layout, composition, colour theory, typography as well as experience in UI development pipelines.
- A track record delivering major projects through to completion, interacting with other departments involved in the project.
- Demonstrates self-driven continued learning in related disciplines.
- Can identify and execute workflow improvements.
- Experience with Mentoring and coaching Junior Staff.
- Experience with interviewing candidates.
- Able to balance quality against technical and time restrictions.
- Able to work independently and being self critical.
- Able to give input into the vision and design direction of the UI.
- Able to employ a clear design process from reference, conception and iteration to final styling and execution.
- Effective communicator both verbally and visually.
- Able to mentor others, drawing on experience and knowledge to promote wider expertise across the team.
- Awareness of current trends in UI and UX, particularly with regards to VR
Desired experience
- Experience of Unreal (and UMG) would be very beneficial
- Experience in working within a team environment
- Excellent working knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite
- A Degree or equivalent qualification and/or at least 5 years experience in an industry UI role at Intermediate or Senior level.
