Principal Software Engineer (DevOps) - Harry Potter

Zynga is looking for an accomplished, senior-level individual contributor whose experience should be equivalent to a Principal Software Engineer, and someone who has a passion for taking on a full-time DevOps role. We need a self-driven and motivated engineer who is a strong communicator, works well as a team player, thinks clearly under pressure, and can assist with both building and maintaining back-end infrastructure. The candidate, who would be proficient in C#, Go, and PHP, will have an opportunity to work on one or more high-profile titles, with a general focus on monitoring & maintaining infrastructure, while also solving interesting and complex challenges, as new infrastructure is deployed and scaled. Our development teams are well-rounded & distributed, and we are looking to bolster these teams with a solid DevOps engineer, with Live Operations experience, and who can help service back-end tech stacks for multiple titles.
Role
- Back-end DevOps Engineer (monitoring, implementing infrastructure and scripting)
- Maintain Back-end Infrastructure (including deployment and maintenance of infrastructure)
- Individual Contributor working on multiple titles under a single Engineering Manager
Your Responsibilities
- Define, architect, and develop back-end solutions within AWS
- Maintain and develop Terraform & Chef scripts, as well as Jenkins nodes for deployment
- Develop, innovate, and integrate new technologies & tools
- Load-test and optimize infrastructure
- Provide escalation support and infrastructure monitoring
You will be a perfect fit if you have:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education/work experience
- 6+ Years industry experience as a DevOps Engineer
- Proficient in C#, Go, PHP, and Shell Scripting
- Expert working knowledge of Docker and AWS at scale: EC2, ECS, EKS, RDB (SQL), ElastiCache (Redis, Memcache), DynamoDB
- Good working knowledge of Terraform, Chef, and Jenkins
- 4+ Years Live Operations Experience
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software methodologies
- Self-motivated, self-directed, with proven experience researching, developing and optimizing back-end infrastructures
- Excellent communication skills, and comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment
Bonus points for:
- Experience with Couchbase or some similar NoSQL persistent datastore
- Infrastructure experience with games
