Job Description

As a Principal Interaction Designer, you will be leading efforts to map out interaction design best practices for our user-facing products. You will work closely with a team of developers to create innovative and compelling experiences that will power the future of mixed reality and leverage your knowledge and expertise to develop user experience (UX) frameworks that future designers and developers will rely on to create new experiences.

You should have an uncanny ability to articulate interactive concepts and break down abstract problems into wireframes easily understandable by more junior staff, and you should be passionate about growing and mentoring the next generation of Rock Star Designers. You have the critical thinking skills to know what is adaptable from older design frameworks, and how to start exploring the unknown.

Because we’re focused on developing the next computing platform, you’ve most likely earned a degree or two, but understand that education never ends at Magic Leap. You must be able to think on your feet, be a knowledge sponge, and thrive on challenges that no one has ever solved before.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion the end user experience and be an advocate for quality at every turn.
  • Serve as the representative for interactive design internally at Magic Leap.
  • Create interactive design best practices and frameworks for mixed reality.
  • Be the benevolent and understanding teacher and mentor to our rising stars.
  • Frequently review and assess the design quality of on-going projects to ensure that we only ship world-class experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years experience being a senior or lead contributor designing apps, platforms or games.
  • Strong track record of contributing to successful products.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to see multiple perspectives for any design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Passionate about technology and the future of computing platforms.
  • Experience with Unity is a strong bonus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Masters and/or a Ph.D. are a plus

  • All your information will be kept confidential according to Equal Employment Opportunities guidelines.
