The Role
As a Principal Hard Surface Artist at Splash, you will set a high artistic and technical bar inspiring the team with expertly crafted mechanical assets ranging from vehicles, robots, weapons, props, gadgets & deployables. You will inspire the team by being an expert in the craft with great eye for detail, scale, proportion and the ability to bring assets to life, making them feel credible and tangible.
As a Principal Hard Surface Artist, you will work closely with the Art Leads, concept, animation and tech-art teams and will be responsible for creating, establishing and maintaining a high-quality library of assets for your project.
You Will:
- Bring the Art Directions vision and Aesthetics to life with excellent fidelity.
- Help build and maintain Modelling and Texturing Pipelines that are scalable and sustainable.
- Create believable and inspiring hard surface assets such as weapons, gadgets, deployables & more.
- Collaborate with the Design Team to maintain gameplay requirements, Animation Team to ensure models can animate and Tech art to maintain performance requirements.
- Maintain quality, efficiency and consistency across your work. Adhere to schedules and meet deadlines.
You Have:
- Deep understanding of contemporary workflows.
- Expert knowledge of 3D Modelling packages.
- Good understanding of game engines and game constraints.
- A practical working knowledge of physically based materials.
- Ability to use Concept Art as a starting point and to complement it with real world reference.
- Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to efficiently interact with team members of all departments.
- A passion for games and enthusiasm for playing games.
Bonus Points for:
- Strong grasp and understanding of real-world mechanical functionality and design.
- Interest in mechanical, sci-fi and industrial design.
- Experience of one or more full game development cycles
