Principal Game Designer - 3Cs - Remote/Hybrid

The Role @ Sumo
We are looking for a Principal Game Designer to help us develop a brand-new AAA IP; an ambitious open world title that has a unique focus on expressive traversal.
You will actively participate in the creation and the development of the game’s vision, working closely with other Leads and Directors. Your role focuses on creativity, collaboration, and problem solving.
What will you do?
- Take ownership of the player character mechanics, controls and gameplay camera behaviours.
- Work closely with the Lead Gameplay Programmer and Lead Animator to prototype, develop and refine the character mechanics, controls and camera behaviours to deliver industry-leading quality.
- Closely collaborate with other departments to help develop gameplay systems that complement the core character mechanics.
- Author and maintain detailed design documentation.
- Help to scope and schedule the development of your features.
What you need to have:
- Experience of designing character mechanics, controls and camera behaviours for a published, AAA, 3rd person action title.
- A collaborative mindset when approaching design and implementation problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to present work, ideas and feedback to the rest of the team.
- A proactive and iterative attitude towards developing player mechanics.
- A genuine passion for games.
It would be great if you also have:
- Unreal Engine 4/5 experience.
- Programming or visual scripting experience.
- Experience of designing with accessibility in mind.
- An interest in cinematography.
