Principal Engineer - Platform Technologies

Mythical’s Platform Engineering team is perfecting a full-service system for developers and publishers to build or integrate blockchain-based play-to-earn economies into their games.
We’re looking for a talented, self-driven, Principal Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role reports to our Director of Platform Technologies and will play an integral role in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining our multi-cloud platform architecture.
You are a technologist that still codes every day. Your technical knowledge and business acumen provide architectural guidance to quality assurance from inception through integration to deliver reliable and scalable cloud implementations. You will design and implement the platform architecture, setting and maintaining high standards.
People naturally turn to you for your coding and architectural skills. You work with your team to provide accurate estimates of the engineering effort required to deliver. You will work on greenfield solutions from conception to completion, supporting our wide range of services and environments that enable multi-cloud streaming . You are experienced in optimisation for scale, costs, and performance .
Responsibilities:
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of fellow engineers, product owners, designers, and business owners.
- You will analyze and optimize current applications toward a microservices architecture.
- You will strengthen your team through mentorship, support, and encouragement.
- You will hold the architectural governance principles and good implementation design for architectural deliverables in the cloud platform .
- You will guide on effective solutions and architectures to achieve business outcomes in alignment with business requirements.
Qualifications:
- You’ve earned a B.S.in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
- Extensive experience architecting, building and delivering production-ready distributed systems (using cloud providers, on-prem and hybrid).
- Experience with system design patterns such as but not limited to: message bus, event sourcing, sharding, side-car, federated, distributed (quorum/leader-election), domain-driven (anti-corruption etc).
- You have experience designing and scaling cloud network platforms (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, CICDCT).
- You are an expert in software development , fluent in C# , and experienced with Golang, Rust and YAML.
- You are confident in challenging complexity and offer alternative simplified solutions where possible.
- You have experience working with an agile development team and generating solution designs for them to work from.
- You maintain excellent communication with non-technical and technical people , especially when explaining technical challenges to the management and business teams.
- You can solve issues as they arise. Understand the impact of issues and how they may affect internal and external customers.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience developing or working with cloud-based microservice architectures.
- Experience with TypeScript, and Kafka.
- You know about designing physical infrastructure.
- You have experience in on-prem and hybrid network design (BGP, XDP, eBPF, OpenStack, OpenShift).
- Experience in working with standards bodies or working with external partners and customers on requirements and standards.
- You have a working knowledge of system design tools and documentation.
