Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC seeks a Principal Effects Artist in Los Angeles, CA to ensure special FX assets are of the highest artistic quality and uphold the integrity of the games design and artistic vision of video games as a whole. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Digital Design, or related field or equivalent, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience developing FX techniques and processes to define and achieve a product’s visual style and encourage artistic evolution. Prior experience must include five (5) years of progressively responsible experience providing input into the artistic goals and vision through all phases of the game development cycle from pre-production through final product release; ensuring game design needs, reference materials, artistic direction and technological considerations meet defined goals by analyzing problems and finding resolutions; resolving highly complex artistic/FX development issues, including helping other artists debug and identify ways to optimize their FX, and achieving unique effects by adapting and mixing existing workflows; ensuring set goals will be met from a scope, schedule and artistic perspective; creating content for trailers, demos and promotional content for the game; and in executing duties, utilizing tools including Maya, Adobe Creative Suite, FX content creation pipelines, shader development, procedural geometry and Razor GPU. At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$127,000 — $190,400 USD
