- Partner with the Principal Art Director and other narrative designers on all aspects of translation of various IPs into the Magic system.
- Collaborate with the Narrative Creative Director to establish consistency — and specialized differences — between Magic IP and Universes Beyond creative design.
- Maintain alignment on the creative pillars of our projects between the game designers, product teams, and external partners.
- Develop strategies for upfront style guide and reference development to ensure excellent execution at the card concept level.
- Work with the Creative Resourcing Manager to find and resource external IP SMEs to develop projects.
- Write style guides and art briefs, and review those written by other designers.
What You'll Bring:
- Writing for Games: 6+ years of narrative design experience, with a passion for leading a diverse group of creative developers through each project.
- Strategic Diligence: Analytic, strategic, resourceful, and structured thinking with the ability to write and maintain detailed and digestible design documentation— motivated by a creative heart.
- Strong intellectual curiosity: Can easily iterate on a number of complex and ambiguous scenarios to find the most exciting vision for your product.
- Persuasive and effective communication: Experience in diplomatically and effectively negotiating efficient solutions across cross-functional teams.
Bonus Modifiers:
- Magic Gameplay Knowledge: Experience as a Magic player and an understanding of the design ecosystem a plus
- TCG Design Experience: Experience developing a TCG a plus
- Licensed Partnership Experience: Experience working with licensed IP holders outside of your organization a plus
In the Wizards TCG Studio, we believe diversity of experience is fundamental to creating accessible and fun gaming experiences for *all* of our players. We encourage everyone to consider being a part of our team.
