Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Principal Character Artist to join our newly announced AAA studio. As the Principal Character Artist , you will be at the forefront of developing the artist ic direction and vision for our highly anticipated projects. You will play a pivotal role in creating visually stunning and memorable character s, defining the game's style, and setting the overall aesthetic tone. Working with our new IP, you will have the exciting opportunity to shape the look and feel of our upcoming titles, contributing to the realization of our game development goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and design of high-quality, visually compelling character s that align with the artist ic vision of the game.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and the creative team to establish and refine the overall style and visual identity of the game.
- Generate high poly character models that meet the highest industry standards for quality and detail.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of anatomy, materials, and texture, ensuring that character designs are both realistic and expressive.
- Utilize advanced texturing techniques and use 3D software tools to enhance the visual appeal of the character s and bring them to life.
- Ideally, apply expertise in Unreal Engine to ensure seamless integration of character models into the game environment.
Requirements:
- Professional Experience:
- 8-10+ years of experience in the video game industry
- Proven experience in a Lead or Principal Character Artist role within gaming, with a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character design and modeling skills.
- Solid understanding of animation principles and the ability to create character models that are optimized for animation.
- Experience working with new IP and contributing to the development of unique visual styles.
- Technical Proficiency:
- In-depth knowledge of various game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine/UE5 preferred) and the ability to work with their scripting languages and editor tools.
- Proficiency in 3D art software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, and/or Blender) and a strong understanding of real-time rendering techniques.
- Familiarity with ZBrush and experience creating and optimizing shaders and materials.
- Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on finding innovative solutions to technical challenges in art asset integration and optimization.
- Team Player:
- A collaborative and communicative team player, able to work effectively in a cross-disciplinary environment and build strong relationships with team members.
- Creative Vision:
- A keen eye for visual quality and a passion for pushing the boundaries of character art in video games.
- Adaptability:
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies, tools, and industry trends, staying up to date with the latest advancements in game development.
