Job Description:
GreenPark is looking for a Principal Concept Artist to set the bar in craft. As a Principal Concept Artist, you are the go-to person for craft direction and feedback spanning multiple creative disciplines. You are a firm believer in art and design fundamentals, and have advanced skills in draughtsmanship, design, and illustration. You will work closely with the Art Director and Leads to level up craft throughout the product.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Game Design, the Art Director and art team, to uphold or improve the visuals across the product - character designs, environment designs, vfx previz, etc.
- Participate and influence early conversations around character skins, level ideations and concepts, storyboards.
- Produce benchmark concepts that captures the IP’s intent and style direction.
- Create mockups with UI overlays as proof of concept.
- Break down the level into asset call-outs and distribute workload among concept artists (internal or external).
- Collaborate in key art illustrations in a supportive capacity.
- Go-To artist for any visual feedback, conduct draw-overs, paint-overs, support production design, and provide end-to-end supervision of content quality from concept to delivery.
- Proactively solve creative and technical problems via rapid draw-overs and proposals.
- Produce style guide and documentation for internal and external artists.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years working as a concept artist in video games or CG animation.
- Shipped +2 AAA titles as concept artist.
- Experienced working with Designers and Concept Artists from ideation, mood pieces, production design, to paint/draw-over support.
- Ability to produce player facing content in a supportive capacity and high fidelity illustrations (key art).
- Veteran level game art production workflow, processes, and pipelines.
- Great design sensibilities - composition, shape language, lighting, values, and color.
- Experience producing style guides, documentation, and mentoring artists as well as guiding vendors.
- Mastery in Adobe Photoshop and environmental design and painting.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in 3D mock-ups.
- Experienced in overcoming platform performance challenges with artistic and technical solutions via draw-overs.
- Ability to work well within a dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative team environment.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Positive attitude and an ability to receive and provide objective feedback.
- Awareness of latest trends in game environment design techniques and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
