Payroll Specialist

We're growing. A lot. Real fast. Remember when you were a kid and used to mark your height each year on your door frame in pencil? It's like that. Except we've grown taller than the door frame. And now our head is now cramped against the ceiling. We're looking for a Payroll Analyst to report to our Director of Finance and help un-cramp our head by processing corporate payroll and assisting with tax reporting.
What you'll be doing
Payroll- 60%
- Must be comfortable to create import files (new hires, deductions, modifications) from Zenefits to ADP WFN and troubleshoot import errors
- Review and process HR source data
- Understand Discord’s policies and benefits and translate it into Payroll and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Reconcile and manage payroll deductions and other earnings
- Manage special/off-cycle pay runs and process terminations
- Analyze processes, benefits, and provide suggestions for process improvement
- Help create desktop procedures, suggest process improvements, and document SOX controls
- Improve payroll analysis for review and highlight variances
- Reconcile and audit 401K contributions
Accounting- 20%
- Help maintain ADP WFN GLI – mapping new codes, update GL accounts
- Process journal entries
Special Projects – 20%
- Work with HR/Finance and other collaborators for implementing new benefits/projects
- Provide support for 401K, Worker Comp, and internal audits
- Prepare payroll reports for management
- Open new states/localities and understand tax implications
- Ad hoc special projects
What you should have
- Manage 401K deferrals and audit
- 5+ years of experience working as a payroll accountant
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now (must) and Intacct Accounting system (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Knowledge of Payroll laws and regulations - CPP Preferred
- Experience working in client-facing roles
