The Payroll Specialist is responsible for administration of assigned tasks, ensuring accurate and timely payments of bi-weekly payroll and off cycle bonus payrolls. This includes verifying the accuracy of payroll calculations, tracking employee deductions, paid time off (PTO), tax withholding and other payroll data. Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.What you'll do
- Perform all duties necessary to process multi-state biweekly, salary and hourly, payroll, commission payments, bonus payments, special payments, and taxable fringe benefits.
- Audit employee data imported from the HRIS system into ADP, review errors and exceptions, and correct as needed.
- Prepare special payments, complex pay, and payroll deduction calculations ensuring compliance with company policies, and federal and state regulations.
- Assist employees and business partners with inquiries, concerns, or requests regarding payroll. This includes properly applying technical knowledge and skills, communicating, and listening effectively.
- Prepare and process paid time off (PTO) adjustments as needed.
- Prepare and process stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company, federal, and state regulations.
- Serve as subject matter expert and trainer for time entry in the time and attendance module for all hourly employees.
- Prepare post payroll reports, submit vendor check requests, and processes garnishments as necessary.
- Research, troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues in a timely manner.
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience
- Strong technical and hands on experience with payroll
- Experience in multi-state, multi-jurisdictional payrolls
- Familiarity with outside sourcing
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- High ability to be adaptable and flexible
- Candidate will preferably have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of payroll related federal, state, and local regulations and payroll requirements
- Excellent judgement analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- High degree of professionalism and solid ability in delivering high quality customer service and establishing/maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships
- Detailed orientated and can maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
- Canada payroll experience a plus
