Senior Payments Strategist - Americas

The Global Payments team enables consumers to pay for their digital content and services by improving global acceptance and minimizing friction within the purchasing experience across the entire PlayStation® ecosystem. You are experienced in the payments space; able to see and scope out new opportunities and collaborate effectively both internally and externally. You are comfortable with a varied, “think out of the box” role; from managing payment partners in the Americas, to helping guide aspects of payment operations especially in LATAM. You are experienced with evaluating and negotiating payments contracts and can work collaboratively with diverse internal teams to identify new opportunities for innovation. Your responsibilities will cover the key areas of payment optimization, as well as crafting the proper foundations of the current and forward-looking business strategy. The role will also touch regulatory / card scheme compliance in a highly complex markets and staying on top of the ever-changing landscape. You will collaborate with several diverse cross-functional teams to drive customer engagement in the Americas region. You will help expand our payment reach as you develop the PlayStation® payment proposition and ultimately realize efficiency gains across payment functions.
You will be responsible for clearly communicating the Business’ commercial strategy and requirements to all business partners who are impacted by payments in your region.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with across internal payment teams and the external payment ecosystem to identify and help define forward looking strategic initiatives in the Americas
- Identify tactical tweaks to help optimize internal processes in the Americas for immediate gain without heavy internal lifts by internal teams
- Help ensure regulatory, card scheme and commercial partner contractual compliance from a payments perspective across the Americas
- Assist larger payment ops team when needed to identify gaps in processes and build long term foundational initiatives to close these gaps in the long term
- Craft a LATAM payments strategy with an eye on improving acceptance without growing fraud or costs
- Operate independently and expertly with external parties throughout payments ecosystem w/little day to day oversight
- Maintain alignment and balance objectives with both global store & services and sales organizations
- Lead and develop emerging business partners, ensuring agreements and products are commercially/financially viable
- As the role spans multiple geographies, regular international travel may be required
- Ability to work varying hours as well as a flexible approach to working hours to support global business operations
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years experience of diverse payments experience in a digital e-Commerce environment with proven results
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and Master's degree preferred
- Payment industry experience with global understanding of cultural and regional differences in attitudes towards different online payment systems
- A network of industry relationships in the Americas; including processors and like-minded merchants with similar priorities
- Prior generalist experience with payment optimization, payments contracting and payment operations
- Experience and consistent record of navigating the payment regulatory and payment scheme landscape, especially in LATAM
- Ability to navigate successfully across complex, geographically and commercially diverse internal operations
- Ability to provide impactful and quality proposals and presentations and confidently hold meeting with senior team members
- Ability to successfully build relationships with partners and coworkers
- Self-starter who is solution focused and able to work under their own initiative with little day to day oversight
- Experience of working under pressure, in an ever-changing and challenging environment
- Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish
Desired qualifications:
- Experience in the video games industry
- 3rd party payment vendor / processor experience
