Cryptic Studios is looking for a talented Outsource Integration Artist with a genuine passion for games to join our XDev Department. Working closely with their direct department as well as project stakeholders throughout the studio, the Outsource Integration Artist acts as the final gate for the quality of externally created art. This is an aesthetically and technically oriented position. Working as an Outsource Integration Artist requires a combination of art and design sensibilities, technical knowledge related to the game dev environment, and a high degree of communication and collaboration.

**Every day you could be:**

* Working hands-on with art content for our live and in-development games. This includes working in engine, editing/fixing, and polishing 3D game assets.

* Collaborating closely with the Art Outsourcing Manager, Outsource Integration Artists, Art Directors, Art Leads and other Cryptic employees to review external art submissions, providing actionable artistic and technical guidance in written and visual formats.

* Tracking progress and communicating status of outsourced assets to the Art Outsource Manager and a wide variety of inter and intra departmental team members

* Supporting 3D disciplines including character art, environment art, animation/rigging, and vehicles

* Supporting 2D disciplines including concept art and UI

* Upholding studio artistic goals and growing the quality, skills, and abilities of our vendors

* Ensuring timely delivery while upholding consistency and fidelity of externally created art assets

**What we would like to see:**

* Experience creating modular, technically complex real-time game art with an emphasis on bipedal characters, armor, fashion, hair, human anatomy, and creature art

* Proficiency with industry tools like 3ds Max, Maya, ZBrush, Substance Designer/Painter and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)

* Strong understanding of material creation and current gen texture/material pipelines

* Basic skinning/weighting ability or experience

* Detail-oriented technical aptitude and strong problem solving abilities

* Organized, self-motivated, excellent communicator with a positive, team-player attitude

* Ability to balance and prioritize deadlines and resources with aesthetic and technical asset requirements

**Pluses:**

* A history of working with, or as, an outsourcing partner

* Experience with Unreal engine and industry-standard source control software

* Practical skills working with art assets, processes and pipelines in a game dev environment

* Foundational skills in traditional art (e.x. sculpture, drawing, painting, illustration)

* Additional skills or background in FX and/or cinematics

* Passion for the Star Trek or Dungeons & Dragons franchises, comics, MMORPGS, video and/or table-top games

* BA or BS degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
