About the Role
The Twitch/IVS infrastructure has a robust implementation of optical technologies, including point-to-point and ROADM metro systems. The optical systems support backbone and edge connectivity for the production network, and are an integral part of our infrastructure.
As an Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for design reviews of new systems, as well as providing operational support for existing systems. In addition, you will work with team members to evaluate new technologies, such as optical line systems, transceivers, or transponders, for adoption.
You Will:
- Be responsible for all aspects of optical implementation, design, and support.
- Collaborate with capacity planners and network engineers on design proposals and projects.
- Act as a primary escalation point for optical related problems.
- Maintain relationships with service providers and vendors.
- Rotate through on-call support.
- Create network diagrams, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures.
You Have:
- 3+ years optical theory, transport technologies and the operation of optical transport systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills .
- Experience with co-location and carrier hotels.
- Intermediate knowledge / experience in a multi-vendor environment (Ciena, Cisco, Infinera , etc. ).
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Earth and other GIS tools such as ESRI ArcGis Explorer.
- Intermediate knowledge of: WDM, Ethernet, OTN, OSA, OTDR, and optical transceivers.
- Comfortable working in Linux, with a basic understanding of python and shell scripting.
Bonus Points
- Possess intermediate knowledge of routing protocols, such as: BGP , OSPF , and IS- IS .
- Experience writing network automation using Python.
- Advanced level certification (CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent).
- Exposure to network tooling, such as Grafana, Kibana, or similar.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $117,360 - 176,040 yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
