Operations Manager, Defence

The Operations team are here to make the business run more smoothly. Our driving purpose is to drive operational excellence and strategic rigour, we are constantly asking ourselves, what will make the boat go faster?
You will be responsible for helping define and deliver against our operational model, with a focus on making us more scalable and efficient as we grow. You will work with the business to help them plan for the future, execute on the present, and learn from the past. You’ll be working cross functionally with different business functions on operational practices and processes, focusing on operational efficiency, operational effectiveness and operational scalability in line with our strategy and vision.
Areas for Impact
- You will be responsible for identifying opportunities and risks to our operational effectiveness, analysing root causes to identify the right course of action
- Working with key stakeholders across the business to ensure they have the tools and information to execute successfully
- Contributing to our business review cadence, including forecasting processes and related activities; with a focus on developing our performance metrics
- Reviewing and implementing operational policies and practices across the business unit, finding ways to improve our ways of working
- Managing and evolving the target operational model day to day and drive efficiencies where possible - across metrics, reporting, communications, staffing, resource management
- Supporting our growth plan, enabling effective and efficient headcount scaling through working with talent and people ops to ensure effective acquisition, onboarding and ongoing employee experience
- Helping to define, develop and rollout our performance measures - OKR’s and KPI’s across the business unit, building out reporting dashboards and supporting cadence to ensure effective deliver

- Strong communication skills, with experience driving alignment cross functionally
- Experience working collaboratively with different stakeholders, working on requirements gathering, reporting, analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment, implementing changes quickly and with impact
- Experience working with growing organisations, rightsizing solutions and ways of working against business objectives
- An eye for process improvement and experience defining, managing & optimising cross functional processes
- Ability to think critically and solve problems as they arise
- An eye for detail, with a proven ability to drive insights from quantitative and qualitative data
