Online Client Programmer
Blackbird Interactive is looking for online client programmers to develop high quality and high-performance client-side systems for a multiplayer project. Do you know how to get things done? Can you work with designers and other programmers to understand and implement what they need? If you are an experienced developer with the talent and desire to take that experience in new directions as a key member of our technical team, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to all areas of client-side online development for a new multi-year project.
- Develop architecture, systems and features to support multiplayer gameplay.
- Design and implement algorithms for ranked and unranked matchmaking.
- Integrate backend service solutions such as player stats, leaderboards and achievements.
- Minimize the impact of bandwidth, latency, and connection quality on the multiplayer experience.
- Apply and grow your domain of expertise.
- Interact with other engineers to improve the whole technical team and process.
- Collaborate with design and technical teams to define requirements and iteratively build solutions.
- Jump wholeheartedly into learning new technologies and systems and leverage them in creative ways to meet our technical and business needs.
- Assess requirements and provide effort estimates to guide an evolving development plan.
- Embrace and help improve our engineering practices for solid design, testing, and implementation.
Requirements
- 1-4 years of proven development. Alternatively an excellent graduate will also be considered
- Experience with online multiplayer or network programming (could be through university or college).
- Good understanding of C++.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Pluses
- Experience with Unity 3D, Unreal, or other similar full-featured game development platform.
- Console development experience.
- Demonstrated passion for games and technology.
- Self direction and a proven ability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment.
- Strong inter-disciplinary collaboration skills, including verbal and written skills.
