Iron Galaxy is looking for a hands-on IT Lead Desktop Support Engineer to head up service & support for desktop & workstation technologies. The Lead Engineer will oversee and participate in day-to-day Desktop team operations and game dev support and be a member of the IT leadership team. Responsibilities include running regular team meetings and providing feedback to other Desktop team members via 1:1s and regular reviews. Additionally, the Lead will closely collaborate with partner studios and internal business and game development process owners to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions.
We are specifically looking for self-motivated candidates comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day Desktop team operations, coordination, and planning & execution of support initiatives for game development and general IT. The ideal candidate will excel working in a fast-paced environment driving performance and reliability, be a great teammate, and be able to tackle challenging, unique situations daily with the proper sense of urgency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help formulate and deploy strategic plans for enabling efficient and cost-effective Desktop technologies to provide a game studio-centric set of services and support.
- Help establish and promote the implementation of overall Desktop team vision, mission, and goals.
- Organize and lead team sync-up meetings, manage service desk queues, and coordinate other checkpoints to ensure smooth workflows.
- Provide performance feedback and coaching to team members via 1:1s and written reviews.
- Maintain regular written and in-person communications with key studio contacts, department heads, partners, and end-users regarding pertinent IT activity.
- Ensure appropriate systems are in place to maintain a reliable and productive work environment for studio personnel.
- Provide hands-on technical support (PCs, laptops, buildbots, GPUs, processors, operating systems, software, security, apps/services, etc.)
- Facilitate IT integration when working w/ partner studios to implement and maintain service & support throughout the partnership.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Minimum 5 years relevant IT experience, including at least 2 years in a Lead or Management position.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- At Least 3 Years of support experience and proficient knowledge of Microsoft solutions (Windows, Office, AD, Endpoint Mgr), High-end PCs, GPUs, processors, storage, and RAM, Desktop system security, patching, and remediation, Technical troubleshooting, Technology procurement & vendor partnerships, App/software license management, Technical service, and support.
- Experience supporting and improving Desktop processes – onboarding, access control, ticket mgmt, incident response, service levels, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common network connectivity issues.
- Good analytical, problem solving, documentation, and decision-making skills.
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure situations.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, geographically disparate environment.
- Ability to identify incident trends to escalate incidents following established protocols.
- Able to gather and present information systematically to troubleshoot, resolve, and report on issues.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
