Ubisoft Milan is looking for a Narrative Designer to join our team in the production of a compelling AAA title.

The role of the Narrative Designer at Ubisoft is to create consistent and believable narrative structures & characters that enrich the world and fantasy of the game. The Narrative Designer unites narrative structure and gameplay systems in order to provide players with immersive and captivating gaming experiences. The role demands to shape, communicate and ensure the consistency of the narration with the design and creative visions.
In particular, at Ubisoft Milan the Narrative Designer will help the Lead Narrative Designer in the creation of a narrative experience - as envisioned by the Creative Director - that will enable players to be emotionally driven by the game. This includes documenting, testing and implementing the narrative structure in the game as well as pairing up with the Game Design team to ensure consistency between design and narration and participating in the communication of the narrative experience to the rest of the production team.

Responsibilities:
• Help building the narrative structure of the game from the breaking and outlining of story and characters over cut-scenes and sequences to the writing of cinematic synopses;
• Understand the elements of gameplay and consider how they might affect the development of the story;
• Formalize, document and update the narrative structure and its implementation, according to the principles established by the Lead Narrative Designer;
• Use our internal tools to design, integrate and debug specific features and assets for the narrative events;
• Throughout the production, make necessary changes to the narrative structure as arising from feedback, to allow for a constant support of the narrative experience in order to achieve the desired player experience;
• Support other writing, design, narrative, and lore needs of the game, as needed or directed.
• Support narrative and design needs of other departments, as required or directed.

Requirements:
• Previous experience in the videogame industry;
• A minimum of one shipped project in a narrative design role;
• Mastery of the rules of storytelling and the craft of design;
• Professional writing experience;
• Creative solutions for overcoming limitations and roadblocks;
• An extreme concern for the quality of your work;
• Great attention to detail;
• Good interpersonal skills;
• Impeccable English, both written and oral.
