Step up to the plate!
We have an opportunity at San Diego Studio: we seek a Narrative Designer to join the team and work on MLB The Show. We are looking to innovate and challenge the way narrative is delivered in sports video games by representing diverse points of view and advancing one of our major modes.
The right person will bring their own creative perspective and narrative design skills to the game creation process. The ideal candidate designs from a place of empathy, is highly creative, is on top of recent trends, is a self-starter, and is capable of creating first class experiences. Does that sound like you?
San Diego Studio is filled with people who are thoughtful, inquisitive and driven. We succeed because we rely on each other. If that is who you are or who you want to become, join us. We are seeking more of our type.
We need your help with:
- Supporting the dynamic nature of baseball games and seasons by applying emergent narrative concepts
- Enabling and supporting branching narrative possibilities
- Creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and prototypes to effectively communicate narrative design ideas
- Creating compelling baseball related narratives through visual scenes, text dialog, narration and in-game/media commentary
- Using proprietary design tools to build and implement the logic structures that advance these branching narratives
You're good at:
- Narrative creation including storyboarding, writing and narrative structure
- Identifying the specific elements that drive compelling narrative experiences
- Keeping up to date with the latest narrative design trends, techniques, and technology
- Presenting to peers and partners while collecting feedback in order to iterate on design
- Scoping work appropriately and delivering on time
Bonus points for:
- Experience in a related field: writing, journalism or broadcasting (even more bonus points if related to sports!)
- Knowledge of the sport of baseball and its history
- Experience creating video game cinematics
