Narrative Designer
We are looking for a Narrative Designer to join our Gods Unchained team.
Storytelling is at the emotional heart of why many players play games. Without a story, it’s just a picture on a card. With a story, it’s a moment in time. Capturing the players’ imaginations and surprising and delighting them with a story told through and around our cards is an essential part of how we grow Gods Unchained and meet new audiences.
In addition, having a narrative frame helps create better and more-consistent art descriptions and better and more-compelling characters and settings. Those pieces of art depicting characters and locations directly lead to improved marketing results. (The champions-driven ads almost always outperformed the gods-driven ones.) The story makes the scaffolding for the marketing of the game - the story created for an expansion infuses everything we do for that set’s release (in-game theming, marketing, etc.).
Working closely with our Games Director and Games Designer, you will create and own the story. Our game world allows for a wide array of levels -- from the mundane to the divine, from the personal to the global - which many game properties do not.
As a Narrative Designer, your work will directly translate into objects and cards sold in our game, providing you with high design ownership and creativity levels.
Here’s how you’ll contribute:
- Create characters, setting, plot, and stories for our game
- Create art descriptions to bring your stories to life in our cards
- Create compelling stories
- Grow the lore of Gods Unchained with new releases
- Contribute to the overall game design: card design, metagame concerns, marketplace development of lore-based items for sale
- Work closely with marketing to drive engagement and interest of Gods Unchained
A bit about you:
- 3 years experience as a narrative designer
- Proven track record of working with, building on, and expanding the lore of a game, bonus points for TCG
- Experience in working in a team environment with sprint based on scrum based architecture
- Ability to think outside the narrative, and see how story can be used to impact revenue and monetization, consumer engagement, stickiness and products that expand beyond the game
Some extra skills that would be awesome:
- Experience with working with franchise games and evolving storylines a bonus
Some of the things we can offer you:
- Flexibility to work from home regularly
- Located near Central Station in Surry Hills with a rooftop
- Regular, fun social events where we can relax and connect with our teammates
- A very supportive, fun and progressive environment
We do not accept CVs from recruiters or employment agencies.
