Narrative Designer

Crytek is looking for a passionate, imaginative Narrative Designer to join the team in Frankfurt, Germany full time. The successful candidate will become a key member of our in-house narrative team, with a focus on owning the technical design and implementation of the narrative for upcoming projects.
Our ideal candidate will bring both high-level writing and technical skills to the table, both aspects which will require attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to learn quickly. On the writing side, we are looking for someone who is able to pivot between different writing styles, formats, and tones across multiple projects. Please provide writing samples that show off this breadth. On the technical side, we are looking for a candidate who brings a foundation of technical knowledge necessary for implementation.
Our team is highly collaborative, and our ideal candidate is an able collaborator; can provide clear, constructive feedback; and can work across departments to develop storytelling elements and the systems that support them.

Qualified applicants will be asked to complete a Narrative Design test.
Responsibilities
- While the position will focus on technical set up and implementation, the candidate will also be expected to be a proficient writer, “story-minded,” and able to contribute to: character creation, world building, short fiction, dialogue, lore-related video scripts, environment prop texts, weapon names, UI elements, and anything else you have ever seen in a video game that involves words. "
- The successful candidate will take ownership over the technical pipeline set up and implementation.
Requirements
- Outstanding English communication skills, both verbal and written
- An interest in storytelling in all forms
- Experience with CRYENGINE, or another game engine
- General scripting knowledge (Python and/or C++)
- Familiarity with Excel, JIRA, Word, Teams
- General knowledge surrounding video game narrative, interactive storytelling, and transmedial entertainment
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, and to iterate on your work
- Familiarity with American English grammatical conventions (or willingness to learn)
- Familiarity with localization pipelines a plus
- Willing to relocate to Frankfurt am Main area, Germany
