Narrative Design Director

Come be our Narrative Director! If you come and work with us, you will define and execute our game’s narrative strategy. You will work together, with the Creative Director, Design Director, and Art Director, to lead the narrative team (writers and narrative designers) and all narrative-related matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain the tone and consistency of the game's narrative - through both narrative design and writing
- Function as the primary point person for any questions, needs, or discussion about the narrative in our games
- Empower your team members with clear expectations and hold them accountable for their results in narrative execution
- Own the narrative system, writing style, standards, and guidelines for the project based on Squanch Games tools and designs methods
- Ensure the overall coherence of the story/scripted events throughout the game and provide guidelines for the assets and features required to support them.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of documentation to support the team
- Create a collaborative environment for narrative ideas to emerge and grow
- Work with production, other team leads, and directors to help create task estimates and schedules for the team
- Reviewing narrative scenes for the project and providing guidance to the team
- Help coordinate VO sessions (preparing scripts, providing direction, etc.), provide support for casting, voice recording, and animation direction
- Work with Tools Programmers to continue to develop internal tools based on the needs of the Narrative Designers and the project
- Support narrative and design needs of other departments
- Designing and scripting some portion of narrative content to understand the game's pipelines and to help establish expectations for the other Narrative Designers
- Be responsible for the hiring of any potential future candidates within the narrative design team
REQUIREMENTS
- Leadership experience
- Creativity and passion for telling funny stories
- A real desire to tell stories in an innovative way in video games
- Experience working as a narrative designer on at least one shipped game
- An excellent understanding of non-linear narrative systems and structures
- Experience working with narrative design tools (such as Final Draft, Inkle, Twine, etc.)
- Familiarity with UE4 Blueprints or equivalent scripting knowledge
- Experience with Excel or Google Docs
- Presentation and pitching skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Experience in writing for other entertainment media, such as TV, movies, or comics
